My name is Paul Schaus and I grew up in Oconomowoc, a small town in southeastern Wisconsin. I attended University of Wisconsin – Madison for my undergraduate degree and then made my way up to the Twin Cities for Dental School. I joined the United States Navy after my first year in Dental School and spent 3 years as a Navy dentist after graduation. My first year out of school, I completed an AEGD residency at Naval Dental Clinic – Norfolk. My final two years were spent at sea, serving ~ 5,500 sailors, pilots and Marines aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71). Before landing in Golden Valley, I spent the previous 7 years running my first private practice in Oak Grove, MN.
My wife, Kristina, and I met at the University of Minnesota. She works as a pediatrician and we have three children: Ethan, Lauren and Liam. They truly are the joy of our lives. They keep us very busy with all their activities and we love to spend as much time outside as possible. Some of the activities we enjoy together are camping, canoeing, fishing, cooking, reading and traveling.
Most importantly, I want you to know that our practice exists to serve you. I know that trust is a very important factor when choosing a dentist. My goal is to earn your trust by listening to you, helping you understand your current situation and then being your advocate to make the best decisions for you. It’s not about me trying to push my values on you or telling you what you should do. If we give you good information and the right support in a supportive environment, I believe you will make the decisions that are best for you.
It's our ultimate goal to help you have the least amount of dental treatment while also having the least amount of dental problems over your lifetime. We strive to help you get so healthy that you won’t require any more dentistry (other than maintenance), but you are so happy with your care and level of health that you’ll feel compelled to refer your friends and family so they can have the same experience.
While we love working with just about anyone, I feel that my team and I excel with patients:
- that are frustrated with seemingly endless dental problems they feel like they never get to the end of
- those that have extensive/complex dental problems
- those that haven’t had very good experiences when it comes to dentistry
